Growing up, Saturdays were for pancakes. It was the best time of the week as a kid. Now with my own, I love being in the kitchen and whipping up a delicious breakfast for them. Over the last couple months I have started kicking out products and foods that contain pesticides and chemicals hidden. It’s one of the main reasons I wanted to make a sourdough starter, so I knew what was going into our foods. When I found out all of the creations I could make with the discard I was sold.

Choosing a Flour

I choose to use King Arthurs Organic Unbleached Flour for my starter. I also often use the Costco brand of Organic flour. You can find it at your local grocery store but you can also buy it directly from their site here.

The discard is what makes these sourdough pancakes so fluffy, it adds and extra lightness to them that is unmatched.
