I have been making this recipe for over 10 years. It’s a family favorite and a must for your fish dishes! Recently I was on a quick overnight trip where we stopped at one of my favorite restaurants. If you ever have an opportunity to stop at Granzella’s in Northern California, do it! They have a very unique market, dining room and casual dining room with a bar. This is always where we sit because of what they have in there. The walls are FILLED with taxidermy animals of all kinds. They have all sorts of fish mounts, African safari mounts and even a Polar Bear!
The Reason I Love Homemade Tartar Sauce
Making your own homemade tartar sauce recipe not only eliminates so many preservatives that are not necessary. Also it tastes so much better! Pretty much any time we are out to eat and fish and chips is on the menu, I splurge. I try not to eat much fried food, but I love a good fish and chips or fish sandwich. However, I am always disappointed in the tartar sauce. You can tell they either buy it or just don’t know how to make it. I find it is typically too sweet with not enough acidity to balance it out.

I haven’t bought Tartar Sauce in about 8 years I want to say. It’s just a recipe that I can make that is so quick and I typically have everything on hand. With just 5 ingredients it’s so easy! Especially now that I make my own Mayonnaise. The easiest way to start eliminating preservatives in your house is by making your own condiments/dips.
