Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves

Instructions
 

  • Add strawberries, sugar, and water to a saucepan.
  • Heat over medium, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the sugar dissolves and strawberries soften (about 5 minutes), lightly mash them.
  • Remove from heat and add basil leaves.
  • Let steep for 10–15 minutes.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve.
  • Let cool completely before storing.
