- 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
Add strawberries, sugar, and water to a saucepan.
Heat over medium, stirring occasionally.
Once the sugar dissolves and strawberries soften (about 5 minutes), lightly mash them.
Remove from heat and add basil leaves.
Let steep for 10–15 minutes.
Strain through a fine mesh sieve.
Let cool completely before storing.
