Blackberry picking may be one of my favorite things to do during the summer. Most people hate it because it takes such a long time, but it brings back so many good memories that I always look forward to late July and August. Easy, I pick and freeze them to have throughout the year!

Blackberries freeze extremely well. I always have a couple bags in my freezer ready to go for cobblers and smoothies. Over the years, one of my main reasons for loving picking blackberries is from the fact that I don’t buy them from a store. I go out in nature and pick the fruit from the earth. No pesticides, no fertilizers no nothing. They get sunshine and water from the river. Its beautiful. Pairing it with this sourdough cobbler topping…its amazing!

Sourdough Cobbler Topping, make it yourself!

Growing food has been on my heart more and more. I always do a little summer garden but it no where near feeds our family. We just recently expanded our garden and are going to have a much bigger one this year. We are so excited!

Summer is coming so I’m getting ready for all the fun recipes that come out of the garden. I think the one I make the most has to be pesto. We go through so much of it! I actually freeze as much as I can at the end of summer so we can have it fresh throughout the winter. We are down to our last couple containers so I’m glad basil will be growing here soon.
