Simple but delicious chocolate ice cream is always a fan favorite. I’m more of a vanilla girl myself, but I do love a good creamy chocolate ice cream from time to time. My kids and my husband love this one.

My kids go back-and-forth between requesting vanilla and chocolate ice cream. However, I’m happy to make either. This is the second ice cream recipe I’m sharing and it’s just as simple as the vanilla one. I found an ice cream maker that I absolutely love. You use a bowl that you freeze to pour your mixture into. It mixes it up for about 25 minutes and then you place it in the freezer. I found the containers on Amazon to put your homemade ice cream in.

I love these containers because they’re small and easy to use. They don’t take that much room and they fit perfectly in a travel trailer freezer. It’s just enough to get you through a camping weekend.
Making chocolate ice cream is rewarding. That sounds strange, making anything from home is rewarding. knowing how to make something that you typically pick up in a package at a store, makes it so much better. Plus, there’s added benefit of teaching your kids a skill. Now this is a dessert so I would take that last bit with a grain of salt. In general, knowing how to take ingredients and make a meal is important.
My kids are always interested in helping for dinner or breakfast for that matter. And always want a job. The more you do around the house the more the kids pick up on it and the more they will be likely to carry these skills throughout their life.



Making Chocolate Ice Cream
Actual making of the chocolate ice cream is extremely easy. You’re going to take your milk slowly with skin your sugar. Then you’re going to add your cream, your extract and your cacao powder. Once it’s completely mixed, you’re going to pour it in that frozen bowl I was talking about. Place in the ice cream maker turn it on for about 25 minutes. After 20 minutes you’ll have the consistency of soft serve. You’re going to scoop out that ice cream and put it in to your containers. Place those containers in the freezer for 3 to 4 hours Until it set up to the consistency of ice cream.

Chocolate Ice Cream
Equipment
- 1 Whisk
Ingredients
- 6 Oz Cacao Powder
- ⅔ Cup Organic Sugar
- ½ Cup Brown Sugar
- 1¼ Cups Whole Milk
- 3¼ Cups Cream
Instructions
- Mix together cacao powder and sugars.
- Whisk in milk until everything is dissolved, 1-2 minutes.
- Add in cream.
- Pour into your frozen Ice cream bowl and turn your machine on for 25-35 minutes.
- Place in your ice cream containers and freezer for 2-4 hours or overnight.
