Classic Meatloaf Ingredients
The ingredients in this list all come together great. Here’s what you will need on your shopping list:
- Ground Beef
- Ground Sausage
- One onion
- 4 Carrots
- Garlic
- Worschershire Sauce
- Mustard Powder
- Onion Powder
- One Egg
- Sourdough Bread Crumbs
- Salt & Pepper
This is personal preference but I use a food processor for the onion and carrots. Sometimes I even throw the garlic in there. I have a picky eater and this fits veggies in without my kid knowing she’s getting some veggies. Plus I personally like the texture better. But that doesn’t mean that simply chopping and placing them in your meatloaf is bad either!
I always pair this with mashed potatoes and gravy. I make a gravy out of the meatloaf drippings and it’s delicious.
This recipe typically makes a little more than a loaf pan. Anything leftover I make into meatballs and bake at the same time. They come out and are cooked after about 25 minutes. My kids love this in their lunch the next day at school!
This meal is a great way to get in some meal prep for school lunches like I mentioned above. If you really want to go for it, double the recipe. With the second batch make all meatballs, cook and freeze. Then, you have cooked meatballs for protein for kids lunches. I do this all the time. I end up using them for mashed potatoes or spaghetti and meatballs. Your kids will love it and it gives a good break from having sandwiches all the time for lunch.
