Easy Homemade Banana Nut Bread

Banana nut bread is something you can whip up really quick and use those super ripe bananas going to waste on your counter.

I have been making a banana nut bread recipe since I was little. This one’s been passed down through the family for years. I’m pretty sure this recipe comes from my grandma.

You know how there’s those weeks where everyone has to eat two bananas a day so the next week you stock up and no one will eat bananas? That’s where this becomes into play. It’s frustrating to see good produce good ways, so why not make something delicious with it?

This recipe comes together really quickly and takes about 45 minutes to bake. There are very few ingredients which you already have on hand.

  • Ripe Bananas
  • Sugar
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Flour
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Walnuts

I use my KitchenAid mixer for this recipe. But you can also do this by hand or use a hand mixer. For me it just seems like the KitchenAid makes everything quicker. But there’s no reason you can’t do this by hand.

Banana nut bread is delicious and semi healthy. The nuts add some depth of flavor and nutritional value as well as the bananas. I typically use walnuts in this recipe however you can use whatever you prefer.

This recipe typically gets devoured within a day or two in my house. And at the same time I’m utilizing produce that goes to waste. Win-win.

I love making this recipe in the fall and winter because it makes the house smell so good. Smells like he just little candle and the house is filled with a sweet and savory aroma. Recipe is easily doubled if you are needing extra for a large crowd. You can also make this muffins or even jumbo muffins.

  • Cream together softened butter and sugar.
  • Add Vanilla Extract, bananas and eggs. Mix until just together.
  • Add flour, salt and baking soda. Mix until just together.
  • Pour into greased loaf pan and bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
