Homemade Lasagna Recipe

Having a Homemade Lasagna Recipe that you can make over and over is something you will want in the winter months!

This homemade lasagna recipe can be made completely from scratch or you can use store bought ingredients! Up until last year, I was buying lasagna noodles. I now make them from scratch because they are so simple to make. Click here for my pasta recipe. The noodles are so tender and do not take that long to make.

What you’ll need for this lasagna recipe:

This easy recipe consists of mainly 3 ingredients; pasta noodles, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. I always grate my own cheese but you can buy it preshredded if that’s what you’re into.

Once you have all of the ingredients it’s as simple as layering the pasta with sauce and cheese. I typically can fit 3 layers in a dish. I like doing meat sauce in my because it makes it more of a hearty meal. This dish freezes well, up to 3 months in the freezer. If your like me and typically make a ton of extra food, this is a great way to get some freezer meals prepped for meals throughout the winter.

This last time, I made my sauce with moose meat instead of beef. It was amazing! If you cook with a lot of game meat, my meat sauce recipe can really be used with any ground red meat. I usually make a big batch and freeze it in mason jars to pull out for quick meals.

Ingredients
  

Meat Sauce Recipe

  • 2 Lbs Ground Beef
  • 1 Lb Ground Sausage
  • 4 Whole Large Carrots
  • 1 Whole Onion
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 4 Cans Organic Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Basil
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Parsley
  • 1 Tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 Tsp Crushed Black Pepper

For Layers

  • Cups Mozzarella Cheese Grated

Instructions
 

Pasta Recipe

  • Place flour on a silicone mat or counter and make a well in the middle.
  • Crack eggs into the well and use fork to mix until mostly absorbed.
  • Now you can kneed the dough for 5-10 minutes until the dough gets pliable and smooth.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and let rest for a half hour.
  • Once it is done resting divide into 4 pieces and roll out into an oval strip.
  • Roll out to desired thinness and roll up into a tube. Cut ¼ inch strips for fettuccine noodles.
  • For Kitchen Aid
  • Set kitchen aid to a 1 and run through 2 times.
  • Start changing the size to be smaller and smaller each time you run it through until you get to desired thickness depending on the pasta you are making.

Meat Sauce

  • Brown ground beef and sausage (around 10 minutes) remove from heat and strain.
  • Next food process or finely chop carrots and onions.
  • Sauté carrots and onion until translucent, then add in the garlic. Cook for one more minute.
  • Add meat back in and mix.
  • Now add in your cans of tomato sauce and herbs, salt and pepper.
  • Let simmer for 20-30 minutes. (Or as long as you like.)

To Make Lasagna

  • In your 9 x 13 place a ladle of meat sauce.
  • Lay 1 layer of flat lasagna noodles on top.
  • Layer meat sauce, then add a layer of cheese.
  • Lay down another layer of pasta and repeat until the 9×13 is full.
  • Top with Cheese, bake at 350℉ for 30-45 minutes.
