Immunity Shots

Immunity shots have been my go to for years when I start feeling like my body isn’t working as well as it should.

I recently had a really rough sore throat. (Something I don’t get often) So I figured it was time to do a couple of round of immunity shots. You can buy these at the store, I prefer to make them. They do not take much time and at least you know what day they were bottled. The closer you drink it to bottling date, the more nutrients it will have.

The Taste

The taste is something that can take getting use to. I have been drinking all sorts of combinations like these for 10+ years so not much phases me anymore. I will take wheat grass shots no problem! 💁🏻‍♀️ My husband looks at me like I’m crazy though. He will not try one with me.

It is not only a strong flavor, but spicy. I started adding in cayenne pepper to my normal immunity shot about a year ago when I started learning about the benefits of it.

Check out this blog about Cayenne pepper to hear about all the benefits!

Cayenne Pepper - Immunity Shot

That being said, you can make this without the cayenne pepper if the spice is too much for you. You will still get plenty of benefits without it!

How I came up with this recipe:

I use to buy them at the store weekly. In the last couple of years I have been focusing on teaching myself to do as much as possible at home. So with something that only had a few ingredients this seemed natural to learn. They are also expensive at the store! almost $4 for one. With my recipe you can make about a weeks worth give or take for $10. That is a huge difference! Plus these are more beneficial for you because you are processing them and consuming them within 7 days.

It took weeks of adjusting this recipe little by little to get it just right. It can vary week to week mainly because you never know how much juice is going to come out of the pineapple. Make adjustments as you see fit. An ounce more of one thing than another will not make a big difference nutritionally.

As with anything I learn to make, it’s important to share! If you enjoy this recipe and you feel it working for you, send it to your friends and family!

Benefits of Immunity Shots:

This immunity shot recipe includes high quality ingredients to boost your immune system and help you fight off any incoming illnesses. Here is a snapshot of just some of the benefits you get from each ingredient:

  • Pineapple: aids digestion, supports iron absorption, supports immunity and is a great source of anti oxidants.
  • Coconut Water: Helps replenish electrolytes (calcium, potassium and magnesium), can possibly help reduce cell damage, excellent source of vitamin C.
  • Tumeric: Helps reduce inflammation, has high levels of antioxidants.
  • Ginger: Aids digestion, helps fight germs.
  • Lemon: Aids detoxification and helps liver flush out toxins.
  • Cayenne Pepper: Protects your heart, helps clear congestion.

And remember, these are just SOME of the benefits!

So really, even if you are feeling great, this immunity shot recipe can still provide plenty of benefits to you. And its simple, so why not try it out?

Another reason to make them at home…

No tiny bottles everywhere! I bought this empty condiment bottle off amazon and put the whole weeks worth in it. Every morning I just squeeze it into a shot glass and throw it back. Its such a space and trash saver!

Condiment Bottle

The other piece of equipment really needed for this is a juicer. You CAN do it without one, I actually had to in a pinch a couple of weeks ago. Let me tell you, that reminded me why I bought my juicer. It makes life such a breeze for this process. I went all in for my juicer and got the Breville Juice Fountain . I love it!

Other than those two things I would recommend, it’s easy! If you do in fact prefer the mini bottles, you can find them above.

  • Strain into your condiment container. Add pineapple juice, lemon and cayenne pepper.

Notes

This recipe makes more pineapple juice than needed. I’ve found it’s easier just to juice the whole pineapple once you’ve started instead of stressing about how much juice is coming out.  Enjoy the extra drink you get out of it!
