The thing I love about this recipe is that it’s quick. A lot of time with sourdough recipes there is a lot of waiting around. With this recipe you can mix it up and pop them in the oven right away.

Don’t forget – you need a sourdough starter for this recipe so check out this blog to get yours started!

Sourdough Biscuits are better

Making biscuits from scratch is not only better but can be way healthier than anything you would buy at the store if that’s what you normally do. I’ll admit, I use to every once in a while. (Don’t tell my mom) But as I started wanting to kick extra ingredients out of my home, biscuits were one of the first things to go.

I grew up on homemade biscuits and gravy. It is one of my favorite meals. I even asked for it for my birthday dinner a couple years back. Does your family do breakfast for dinner? Mine always did. When I ask my husband to do that he looks at me like I’m a crazy person. 😂 So we enjoy this as a family for breakfast like normal people.

Sourdough Starter

Making them

This recipe is a simple mix together and roll’em recipe. Just knowing what to do first helps. What’s nice is that there is no waiting around. Once they are rolled out you can cut them and put them in the oven.

I’ve made these quite a bit by now and every time they come out great. I love a good recipe that won’t fail you. At least yet…! There’s always a first time for everything.

This is a fun one to do with your kids too! Get them in the kitchen and helping out. They will love being apart of baking them and then eating them.

The number 1 thing to make sure of…

Sourdough Biscuits

Use FROZEN butter. It helps with the flakiness and you don’t want your dough too wet. Biscuit dough is much dryer than most doughs. You also don’t want to over work this recipe. Do just enough to make sure it is completely mixed then you want to start rolling. I typically roll out anywhere from a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch. I know the latter sounds pretty tall but I do like to make overly large biscuits once in a blue moon.
